Here’s what you can expect as a Director, Corporate Counsel with the Office of Special Counsel at DaVita:
DaVita’s in-house legal team is known as the “Justice League of DaVita,” or “JLD.” The JLD is comprised of over 200 attorneys, paralegals, and professionals (“Superheroes”) in countries around the globe. The Corporate Counsel, Office of Special Counsel (“OSC”), will be a member of a team comprised of attorneys, paralegals, and legal professionals. The Corporate Counsel will conduct and manage internal investigations relating to legal and compliance matters, including creating an investigation plan, interviewing witnesses, reviewing documents, and making recommendations; assist with responding to government inquiries; support government-facing litigation matters, including managing outside counsel; conduct compliance exit interviews; and manage special projects. The Corporate Counsel may also assist with commercial litigation matters, including payor, vendor, real estate, and other business disputes.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting and managing internal investigations.
- Coordinating responses to inquiries from government regulators.
- Providing advice to business partners on government investigations.
- Working on teams to develop and execute litigation strategy and manage outside counsel for civil and criminal litigation matters.
- Conducting compliance exit interviews.
- Supporting the business by providing legal counsel on compliance-related matters.
- Managing departmental metrics, leading special projects, and attending team meetings, phone conferences, and trainings as required.
This role has the ability to be remote from a home office.
Our ideal candidate possesses:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction in the United States.
- Between three and five years of investigations and general litigation experience, including experience responding to government subpoenas, conducting internal investigations, managing discovery, and handling motions practice.
- Demonstrated excellence in written work product, matter management, and organization.
- Experience working at a national or regional firm is preferred.
- Experience with the False Claims Act and/or the Anti-Kickback Statute is a plus but not required.
- Aptitude for establishing a collaborative working relationship with JLD teammates and business clients.
- Team-oriented attitude with a focus on support and continuous improvement.
- Drive to achieve priorities through accountability, ownership, and service excellence.
- Ability to leverage data, information, and resources to solve problems, remove barriers, and make decisions.
- Respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds present in our community.

Salary/ Wage Range
$110,100.00 – $161,700.00 / year
Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
