As a Software Test Engineer within Disney Enterprise Technology’s Custom Applications group, you will be part of an agile delivery team working on products for a variety of businesses and brands across The Walt Disney Company, including Disney Parks, Studios, ESPN, National Geographic, and more. You will document, develop and implement both manual and automated QA testing for software used in a variety of commercial, internal, and end-user applications.
This role is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Test or QA Engineer to build skills, portfolio, and a network within the world’s premier entertainment company by improving software quality and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with product managers, agile specialists, designers, and other software engineers as part of a scrum team to develop and deliver software solutions according to requirements/specifications.
- Develop test plans, test cases, and other supplemental documentation as needed while maintaining the QA process.
- Review and write test automation code for both frontend and backend components that improve quality and development velocity.
- Execute test cases and test plans to ensure deliverables meet functional specifications and requirements.
- Lead test sessions with key members of the delivery team to ensure functionality of products.
- Diagnose, debug, and perform root cause analysis for issues in production or test environments.
- Create and maintain test data for manual and automated testing.
- Perform peer and vendor code reviews for compliance, security, performance, and best practices.
- Build working relationships with technology teams across the enterprise to identify opportunities and potential impacts.
Basic Qualifications:
- Passionate about software quality, innovation, and iteration.
- 3+ years of professional experience in quality assurance, software testing, or software development using modern web frameworks, languages, and libraries. These might include PHP, Laravel, WordPress, Ruby on Rails, Python, Vue, React, or Angular.
- Experience with enterprise class software development tools and workflows, including virtualization (Docker), CI/CD, and version control (GitHub, GitLab).
- Experience with testing methodologies and test automation tools.
- Experience with RESTful web services and REST APIs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team that includes both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Flexible, organized, and motivated to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for the legacy, brands, and offerings of The Walt Disney Company.
- Experience with behavior driven development (BDD).
- Experience with digital accessibility and disability inclusion, including WCAG, WAI-ARIA, Title III of the ADA, and accessibility testing within the development process.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
The hiring range for this position in California is $93,398 – $125,290 per year and in Washington is $97,908 – $131,340 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
