Responsibilities

Provides interdisciplinary bioinformatics support. Works with bioinformatics teams and collaborates with clinicians and research investigators. Works on both clinical and research aspects of bioinformatics. Develops bioinformatic pipelines for disease-specific oncology panels. Delivers cost-effective and reliable clinical tests. Follows clinical recommendations and quality protocols when integrating analytical modules into pipelines. Engages in Vendor outreach. Tracks emerging software technologies. Integrates technologies into clinical pipelines. Supports research for multiple genomics datatypes. Collaborates with investigators on a variety of research studies. Utilizes publicly available bioinformatics tools. Analyzes data and develops customized scripts to address complex questions. Uses multiple programming languages to program according to project needs. Telecommuting permitted.

Qualifications

Position requires a master’s degree or a foreign equivalent in Bioinformatics or similar field, and 3 years of work experience in job offered or related position, as well as the following: 

Applied knowledge of next generation sequencing technologies; Applied knowledge of bioinformatics methods; Applied knowledge of Cancer biology; Ability to code in Python and R; Ability to work in high performance computing environment; Ability to use version control software to organize and share code; Ability to communicate complex omics topics to principal investigators.
